This past week I went up to San Francisco with Kyle to check out the area in earnest and to basically just find a place to live. I’d have to say the trip was much more fruitful than anticipated though I may have jinxed myself in my last post; the first offer for a place we made fell through. Won’t say anything nice about place #2 least I jinx it again.

Either way, the trip was amazingly fun and I’m so glad I went up there to get a taste of it. My last trip was last year and going this year reinforces my desire to live there. I feel confident in my decision 110%. So many aspects of the city were extremely inspirational to me: from the old buildings and trolleys, to the milling people walking around, to the fashionable accessories that were worn here and there. I felt like such a romantic being able to cuddle up with my boyfriend and talk about what sort of areas we might like to hang out in the most. I’m looking forward to really enjoying the city as much as I possibly can as soon as I set foot in the door.

Of course a big tourist destination we visted was Pier 39: Fisherman’s Wharf where Kyle and I watched the street art that I’ve seen done plenty of times before. It’s basically the same thing over and over, but I admit to how interesting to watch in person how these pieces are.

I also fell in love with the cute sourdough bread shapes from Boudin Bakery which were adorable. I made sure to savor and enjoy my sourdough turtle!

Either way, I really enjoyed myself, even though I don’t have many pictures to prove that that was the case. I’m planning on moving by the first weekend in August… here’s to hoping!

San Francisco update

My recent absence can mostly be explained by how I’m in San Francisco with my boyfriend, looking for places to live. We’ve found an excellent place and just have to submit some paperwork and we’ll be good to go… hopefully. Obviously we have our fingers (and toes!) crossed and we’re both hoping for the best.

Either way, this trip has definitely been a crash course in the BART, Muni, and all the little intricacies of meandering around on foot in this huuuge city. But, I don’t mind, it’s great fun and I’m happy to be here; I can see myself here.

Resort 2011 and Couture F2010 images and trend thoughts

So let me preface this with stating that I am NOT a fashion blogger. At least not a regular one. Its just that ever since I finished my Introduction to the Fashion Business course, I can’t help but just look more than I used to; I like looking at the trends now. It doesn’t seem as overwhelming as before, anyway.

Regardless of that, for the readers of mine who don’t really know, Couture Fall 2010 and Resort 2011 basically happen right around the corner from each other, regardless of the years and how confusing it seems. Resort 2011 was shown in June and Couture Fall 2010 is currently being shown now in July. Long story short, it’s tied to ordering-to-consumer distribution times.

I’ve been oggling and saving pictures of some of my favorite trends from each, where they overlap.

Sculpture shapes
Not normally my style, but lovely to look at. Stiff, starchy– somehow I think if I were to try and move that fabric at all, it wouldn’t budge. I also really like the textile designs on the ones with prints; reminds me of some of what Alexander McQueen did in Spring 2010 with the crazy computer-generated fabric, at least for the Michaelangel dress.

Chiffon with embellishments
Love love love these sorts of things. It’s vintage without being matronly or old-lady-ish. I love how the embellishments float on top of the fabric. While the Couture Chanel stuff is maybe a bit much for me, I love the colors and the fabrics and how they fit together.
